In this modern world of high pressure jobs, traffic jams, political uncertainty, and
constant change, the Amish strive to retain the old ways. Based on a literal
interpretation of the bible, the teachings of Menno Simons (1496 - 1561), and the
1632 Dorecht confession of faith, the Amish have kept the old ways and separated
themselves from society. The Amish split from the Mennonite church in the late 1693
then settled in Switzerland and the Rhine River valley. Our American Amish came
here in the 1730's and settled mainly in Pennsylvania. Over the decades, some
branches of the church have modified their religion to exist in the modern world. Their
collective desire is to live a simple life with few modern conveniences and modest
material possessions. They rely on God's grace, honest work and separation from
sinful modern culture to achieve personal happiness.
Which brings us to the Amish who build our log homes. They arrive early in the
morning at the job site in a church van. Some Amish churches are opposed to using
modern vehicles but our friends at Tranquility believe that it is the personal ownership
of the automobile or the frivolous use of it that invites sin. If the van is just a simple
means of transportation and nothing more, then it is acceptable. They unload their
tools in preparation for the long days work ahead. Their stamina is impressive and the
older Amish lead by example. A work day lasts from sun up to sun down with a break
for a noontime meal. They are people of few words who let their honest labor do the
talking.
They do not allow themselves to be photographed, do not accept government welfare,
do not marry outside the Amish church, do not drink alcohol, never owned slaves and
oppose all wars. What do they allow? Hard work, Honesty, Quality, Family values,
Fair contracts, Clean living and modesty. Compare that to your average construction
crew... The Amish are church, family and work centered people with one goal at
Tranquility, to build the finest log homes possible at a fair price.
Tranquility log homes are priced the same as conventional construction. Compare
the two styles, compare the looks, compare the resale value, compare the utility costs
and you will see why a log home is the better value.

obvious at every stage of construction.
Log home construction is very different
from conventional 'stick' homes. If you

company who specializes in log homes.
Tranquility homes are built to last:
solid, reliable, trust worthy, attractive
and faithful... just like the Amish.
